Facebook is Giving People More Control Over the Ads They See!

Yesterday, Facebook released a video explaining how ads targeting will change. Jake Brill, product manager talks about the need to reach ads that are relevant to  people’s interests in products or services. Previously, Facebook ads were based on the people’s activity on Facebook. Today, information will be gathered from the websites and apps people check and relevant ads will be shown on their Facebook accordingly. For example, if you are looking to buy a new cellphone, you will be searching for a cellphone’s qualifications and peoples feedback, Facebook in return will show you ads of cellphone brands or accessories.

Beside FB will be introducing a new tool which is Ad preferences. This tool will grant people control over the ads they see on FB. For example, it will explain why you are seeing a certian ad, lets you add and remove interests that Facebook used to show you this ad.

This tool will be available to people who reside in the US in the next few weeks, and hopefully will expand globally in the coming months.
